Michelle du Toit

I am Michelle du Toit, and I identify as a woman. I did my law degree at the University Currently Known as Rhodes and have just completed my Master’s in Law at Stellenbosch University. I have specialised in constitutional litigation and human rights law. My Master’s work specifically deals with the right to health, the underlying determinants of health, vulnerable groups and universal health coverage systems.

I argue for health care system reform. I am very passionate about addressing unequal and inadequate access to health care. I believe in the collective’s power to initiate change. I am plagued by the inequality, and have committed myself to pursuing social justice. I hope to pursue either my PhD in law or a Master’s degree in politics; otherwise, I hope to become an advocate so that I can fight for those who do not have a voice. I wish to use my knowledge and position of privilege in society to help others and contribute to social change.
