Nonzaliseko Magidiwana

Nonzaliseko Magidiwana is a community activist focused on eradicating Gender Based Violence in the Eastern Cape, alongside advocating for LGBTQI+ rights. She is a health promoter and support group facilitator, working towards empowering women and giving them more knowledge about reproductive health issues. Her focus is on building partnerships with community health care workers to ensure that women are empowered and have access to equal health care treatment regardless of ethnicity, geographic location or economic class.

About being a Tekano Fellow, Nozaliseko says she now has an opportunity to upskill herself and work for what she believes in. “Through the Tekano fellowship my hope is that I will have the opportunity to work for what I believe in like such as my project to address the issues around gender based violence.” she says.
