Reginald Cupido espoused Celestine in 2009. Meighkyle was born to them in 2010 and Meighkaylin in 2015.
Reginald is the Health Promoter at Mamre Community Day Clinic for the Department of Health, Western Cape Government. He relishes the opportunities offered by this position to help people improve their health and well-being. Helping others and empowering people is what motivates him most, driven by the following quote from the late president Nelson Mandela: “A fundamental concern for others in our individual and community lives would go a long way in making the world the better place we so passionately dreamt of”.
Reginald’s endeavors to make the world a better place have over the years been shaped by his theological education. Theological education equipped him for ministry inside the Christian community and the manifold ministries of a Christian in civil society, but also to respond in meaningful ways to the societal challenges in South Africa and the larger African context.
Sociology, which formed an integral part of his theological education, helped to establish an understanding of the groups to which people belong and the societies created by these groups. Sociology of Health particularly sharpened his comprehension on the causes and cures found in the social contexts in which people live and work.
Reginald is currently pursuing a Health Sciences degree to enhance his contributions to the prevention of disease and the improvement of societal health.
