Haseena Majid

Rosie Motene is a queer feminist writer, activist, speaker, impact producer, documentary filmmaker, and certified life coach working between Rustenburg and Johannesburg. With over 30 years of experience across television, film, theatre, broadcasting, and talent management in South Africa and East Africa, their work sits at the intersection of storytelling, justice, and care, centring feminist, queer, and African perspectives, with particular focus on gender-based violence and queer rights. They hold a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts from the University of the Witwatersrand and have pursued extensive training in trauma-informed care, sexual abuse and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder counselling, breathwork, Reiki, feminist political education, and peacebuilding. They is also a certified Listening Hour Guide, integrating somatic and healing-centred approaches into activism and leadership. Rosie is the Founder and former Director of Waka Talent Agency, a Pan-African agency she led for 16 years, and previously served as Head of Production and Programming at NTV and Spark TV in Uganda. Their governance roles have included Board Chair of Childline Gauteng and Deputy Chair of People Opposing Women Abuse; they currently serves as Co-Chair of The Other Foundation. They is the author of Reclaiming The Soil and producer of the documentary The Woman Who Poked The Leopard. Rosie envisions a world where justice is inseparable from care, healing, and dignity. A socially just world that prioritises bodily autonomy, safety, economic justice, and freedom from violence for all, especially womxn and queer people.
