Is a human rights advocate from Seshego, Limpopo, with a strong focus on advancing access to justice and healthcare for vulnerable communities. She holds a community-based paralegal qualification from North West University. As the Managing Director of the Bloodriver Advice Office, she currently runs human rights campaigns aimed at improving the lives of her fellow community members. With over a decade of experience in community-based paralegal services, she advocates for the rights of marginalised groups in areas of healthcare access for sex workers and survivors of gender-based violence. Her advocacy work seeks to ensure that sex workers can access essential healthcare services including HIV prevention medications for pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis, and condoms without stigma or discrimination. Mary has also initiated programmes to educate adolescents on sexual and reproductive health rights, helping to reduce teenage pregnancies in her community.
