He/Him

Is a community development practitioner, environmental justice advocate, and social change leader based in Gugulethu, Cape Town. His work sits at the intersection of environmental justice, urban renewal, and community mobilisation, with a strong focus on advancing health and social equity in marginalised communities. With over two decades of experience, he has dedicated his career to transforming public spaces and empowering communities to drive sustainable, locally led change. Originally educated at the secondary school level, he has expanded his knowledge through extensive international exposure across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, shaping a deeply community-centered and innovative approach to development. His expertise includes participatory project design, environmental sustainability, and grassroots mobilisation, with a particular strength in translating community needs into practical interventions that improve access, equity, and wellbeing. He is the founder of the iThemba Walkway Initiative, a flagship project that transformed a former dumping site into a safe and vibrant public space serving over 5,000 residents. This initiative has contributed to improved community health, increased opportunities for physical activity, and strengthened social cohesion, while also inspiring similar efforts in Gugulethu and surrounding areas. He has also co-founded the Gugulethu Youth Council and contributed to initiatives such as the Township Backyard Food Growers network, the South African Mobile Library Association, and Africa Unite’s peer human rights education programmes. His work is guided by a vision of socially just and inclusive communities, where public spaces, environmental sustainability, and participatory leadership create pathways for collective wellbeing and long-term social change.
