Is a Non-Executive Director of Tekano, Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee and a board member of the Tekano Foundation. She brings more than 20 years of experience in corporate governance, strategic leadership and board effectiveness, having served as an executive director, non-executive director and board chair across the private, public and non-profit sectors. She is the Founder and CEO of Boardvisory, a specialist governance advisory and board development practice focused on strengthening board performance through advisory services, director education, board mentoring and coaching. She is also a board coach, facilitator and speaker, and contributes to executive education and director development programmes through leading business schools and professional bodies. Joy-Marie is a Chartered Director (South Africa), a Fellow of the Institute of Directors South Africa since 2009, and a Professional Certified Coach accredited by the International Coaching Federation. Her academic qualifications include an Executive MBA (with distinction), a Master of Laws (LLM), a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA). She is currently pursuing a PhD exploring the importance of director competencies for effective corporate boards in South Africa.
