Promotion of Access to Information (PAIA) Manual

Our commitment to transparency and accountability

At Tekano, we believe that access to information is fundamental to promoting transparency, accountability and the protection of human rights. In keeping with our organisational values and commitment to good governance, we make our Promotion of Access to Information Act (PAIA) Manual available to the public.

What is PAIA?

The Promotion of Access to Information Act, 2000 (Act No. 2 of 2000) gives effect to the constitutional right of access to information in South Africa. PAIA enables individuals and organisations to request access to records held by public and private bodies, subject to the requirements and limitations set out in the Act.

The legislation promotes transparency and accountability by providing a framework through which people can exercise their right to access information.

About Tekano's PAIA Manual

Tekano's PAIA Manual has been prepared in accordance with Section 51 of the Act.

The manual provides information on:

  • The procedures for requesting access to information.
