Dr. Tracey Naledi (MBChB, FCPHM) is the Chairperson of the Tekano Board. She was recently announced as the 2018-19 Tutu PhD Candidate. She is also a Discovery Foundation Fellow.
Tracey is a public health specialist and has held senior management positions in the public sectors in South Africa & NGO sectors in South Africa & Botswana.
She has worked in the area of HIV and AIDS, health system strengthening, social determinants and wellness.
Among other prestigious voluntary positions in the public health arena she is an elected member of the Council for Public Health Medicine of the College of Medicine of South Africa.
In her previous work at the Western Cape Department of Health she was the co-chair of the Burden of Disease Reduction Project in the Western Cape focusing on understanding the social determinants of the burden of disease in the province and how the provincial government could respond to them.
Tracey’s interests include health systems strengthening, particularly strengthening the District Health System as a vehicle to deliver universal health care and addressing social determinants for the improvement of health outcomes.
