Mila Mafanya is the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Equities at Afena Capital. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder and holds a Bachelor of Business Science degree majoring in Actuarial Science from the University of Cape Town (UCT).
Mafanya has solid governance experience at an executive management and board level across business, non-profit organisations and industry bodies. He is an executive director on the board and serves on the management committee (MANCO) at Afena Capital and is also registered as both a Key Individual (KI) and Representative (Rep) of the firm with the Financial Services Conduct Authority (FSCA). He sits on the board of directors of the Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (ASISA) and is Chairperson of the ASISA board sub-committee for Transformation, Skills Development & Education. He is a board member of re-insurer General Reinsurance Africa Limited (Genre) and sits on the Audit and Risk Committees of the board. He is a board member of non-profit organisation Tekano Health Equity (Tekano), sits on the Tekano board’s Finance & Investment, Governance Audit & Risk and Remuneration Committees and is the organisation’s Treasurer. He is also board member of Tekano Foundation and chairs the investment committee. He was the Treasurer of the Association of Black Securities & Investment Professionals’ (ABSIP) Western Cape Chapter and was also a member of ABSIP’s Investment Think Tank. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors South Africa (IoDSA).
Mila is also a founder member of a voluntary non-profit organization, Fun Learning for Youth (FLY), which provides tutoring services to 180 high school students from disadvantaged communities.
