Tekano understands that social change and the achievement of health equity will not be attained through one organisation. Tekano values collaborative work, and partnering in solidarity towards achieving social justice and reform.
At the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic, a myriad of health inequities, which have plagued South Africa long before, were aggravated leaving multitudes of marginalised communities at the fate of an already fragile health system. As is the case in South Africa’s history, civil society stepped forward and provided relief where the state provided restrictions.
Tekano partnered with a few organisations in civil society by way of supporting their efforts through the Covid-19 Solidarity Grant.
