Abongile Davani

Abongile Davani is the Co-founder of Siyakholwa Reading and Writing Drop-in Centre, and founder of ECHOs of Hope Foundation. Abongile is a literacy and human rights activist working towards the realisation of women, girls, and LGBTIQPA+ rights. She is currently working towards the inclusion of the youth in the provincial economy of the Eastern Cape in hopes to upgrade the province’s economic productivity.

Abongile will be using the skills from the programme to bring gender justice in her community through storytelling. She hopes to work with different stakeholders in the public health space to challenge policies that promote health inequity and advocate for fair and accessible health services for diverse communities. “Throughout this experience I hope to collaborate with activists and like-minded game changers to motivate for the betterment of my community,” she says.
