She/Her
Is a physiotherapist and health equity advocate based in Kuilsriver in the Western Cape, working within the Stellenbosch Sub-District. Her work sits at the intersection of primary healthcare, disability rehabilitation, and health systems strengthening, with a strong focus on advancing equitable, community-based care for underserved populations. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy and a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from Stellenbosch University. Her expertise includes primary healthcare physiotherapy, disability rehabilitation, community-based care, and evidence-based practice, complemented by skills in clinical epidemiology, systems thinking, service evaluation, and health programme design. She currently serves as a Physiotherapist in the Stellenbosch Sub-District, where she leads rehabilitation services, coordinates multidisciplinary care, supervises undergraduate students, and drives community outreach initiatives. Her work is rooted in addressing systemic barriers that limit access to healthcare for people living with disabilities, particularly wheelchair users facing environmental and service delivery challenges. She has contributed to initiatives such as the development of a community-based wheelchair repair workshop, peer support programmes for individuals with spinal cord injuries, and inclusive sports and exercise groups in underserved communities, some of which are now independently run by community members. Her leadership is shaped by a collaborative and people-centred approach, influenced by early community engagement experiences and a strong commitment to dignity, inclusion, and service. Her work is guided by a vision of a socially just world where healthcare is accessible, inclusive, and responsive, and where communities are empowered as active participants in shaping their own wellbeing.
