Nomfundo Mkhaba is based in Roseneath on the South coast of Durban central, KwaZulu-Natal . She is a qualified teacher with a bachelor degree in the intermediate and senior. Nomfundo has 6 years working experience in both primary and high school with a focus on leadership, environmental sustainability, gender equity and education.
In 2019 Nomfundo graduated from The Centre for Environmental Rights; Rights and Remedies. The course, which focused on practical training outcomes, provided her with a range of skills to facilitate engagements with government and industries, including the use of statutory remedies, objection letters, reporting environmental violations.
In that same year Mkhaba co-founded an NPC called Waste for Change that has hit the ground running executing campaigns in Malundi Township Roseneath Umkomaas, where they do pick-ups every Saturday, the initiative has gone to create revenue for about 30 people in the community.
Nomfundo currently serves as Project Developer at Waste for Change and which has provided her the opportunity to enhance her innovative and creative skills that she acquired from the 2017 Yakha Sakhe project organised by Innovate Durban.
