Pinky Saidy Brown

Pinkie Saidy Brown is a Provincial Lead at Y+SA and a queer HIV activist living with HIV. Pinkie uses social media to advocate for people living with HIV, and for the inclusion of queer women who are living with HIV in the conversations around HIV. Her interests are ensuring that women and girls have the space to learn about their bodies and their rights to sexual health. Pinkie’s activism for people living with HIV stems from her own lived experiences as a queer woman living with HIV.

Although her activism is located online through social media, Pinkie has started implementing work and programmes in her township in Itsoseng in the North West province. “Health equity means everyone being able to access health care services, including the SRHR services in their healthcare facilities, regardless of where they are based. Health Equity means giving people back their dignity,” she says.
