Yvette Andrews is a professional nurse at the Department of Health (DOH) in the Western Cape Province. She works as a community health activist, engaging with community health workers around bringing access to health care to marginalised communities. Yvette believes in the creation of an equitable health system for all, one that seeks to address the wrongs of South Africa’s Apartheid past. She says the mission, vision and goals of Tekano resonate with her soul and speak to her as a framework to further the work she is doing.
Yvette believes in being the change she wants to see in South Africa. “How I am in every situation is impacted by my core values and the change I want to see come about in SA. Therefore social justice is always at the core of how I move through the world,” she says.
