Gauteng based activist Zandile Mqwathi is a Social Behaviour Change Communications Manager at Pact South Africa. Her work as a public health professional sees her specialising in the implementation of social and behavioural change programmes focused on HIV prevention and rights, and raising awareness around Gender Based Violence (GBV).
Zandile hopes to use her experience to build partnerships with social workers and care workers who are experiencing health inequities in ways that compromise their mental health and wellbeing. As a creative, she hopes to do this through storytelling, projective play and song, to create safe spaces for social workers and care workers to explore self-care, with an emphasis on accountability partners. “I believe that participating in the AFHESA Programme will help me contribute to the achievement of health equity in South Africa and on the continent,” she explains.
